Using Consumer Research to Improve Retirement Outcomes

Journal Live Series

Thursday, February 27, 2025   •   12:00 pm – 12:45 pm ET

Speaker: Anna M. Rappaport, FSA, MAAA

Program Overview

Traditional financial planning models make certain assumptions about planning and life-cycle finance that do not always recognize the reality facing many Americans. This program, based on an article published in the January 2025 issue of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals, develops the idea of “meeting people where they are,” providing information about the financial planning needs of individuals facing a wide range of situations. Taking published research from several sources, including real-life experience and proprietary research, the article provides advisors with a realistic picture of the gaps in conventional planning and challenges them to think about these situations and their business models to identify additional opportunities where they can better serve their clients.

Journal Live programs consist of a short audio presentation over the telephone by the author of a recent article in the Journal of Financial Service Professionals, followed by a Q&A session. Journal Live programs are approximately 45 minutes long.
